Essentially, there are two layers of
stainless steel sandwiching a Teflon sheet. The latter acts as a pressure
seal. The two layers of stainless steel are precision cut on a CNC laser
in the factory selected burst pattern. The laser cuts slots which are
terminated at either end with holes (to minimize any stress concentrations
at these points) There is a "bridge" or "tab" between the slots which is
not cut. Thus there are several variables which can be manipulated to
"fine tune" the release pressure: the thickness of the Teflon seal to a
minor degree, the thickness of the stainless steel sheet material, and the
width & number of tabs" On the final production run, there are destructive
tests done to establish the release pressure at ambient temperature.

Notes |
Maximum
burst pressure is 8 psig (552 mbar)
Maximum operating temperature is 450°F (230°C)
Applicable tolerances:
±0.5 psi (34 mbar) for pressures >=1.0 psi (69 mbar)
±0.3 psi (21 mbar) for pressures <1.0 psi (69 mbar)
Maximum tolerating working pressure is 50 % of the rated release
pressure, which for design purposes, should be 50% of the lower end of
the tolerance (should the be the upper end of the tolerance for the
purposes of relief area sizing).Standard construction is
SST/TFE/SST - other materials available on request
Various other styles/construction accessories and special vent
styles to accommodate high vacuum service are available - please
consult factory.
Exploguard offers various accessories and special vent styles to
