Explosion Protection
Explosion Doors are available with a lightweight aluminum honeycomb core or lexan (and other construction materials) and are designed in accordance with NFPA 68. Doors often provide explosion/pressure relief solutions that explosion vents can not. For example, when large areas or low release pressures are required, explosion doors offer the best solution. When used in conjunction with the gas fight seal, leakage is not an issue. Flexibility as to the geometry/shapes allows optimizing of relief area. They can also provide vacuum relief.
The picture on the right shows the ExploGuard™ fracture clip panels after an explosion has occured (in blue). The panels opened to relieve an explosion in the equipment and were so effective as to eliminate the overpressure quickly enough that the primary, European made, Atex certified rupture diaphragm style explosion vents did not open during the explosion. Fast replacement of the clips allowed for start-up a short time after the cause of the incident was mitigated.
